Nancy Lao, has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1997 and received BS degrees in Accounting and Economics from the University of Maryland in 1989 and 1991, respectively. Nancy is experienced in the preparation of personal income tax returns including itemized deductions, self-employment deductions, capital gains/losses, and home office deductions, etc. Nancy is also proficient in QuickBook Pro and MS Office suite.
Prior to joining the Taxmasters, she worked at the Department of Energy, the Office of Chief Financial Officer starting in 1990.
Her primary role at the CFO’s office was as a front line resource staff and analyst responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the various systems and reports. She was also responsible for preparing the Department’s consolidated financial statements and the project lead for implementing a government-wide financial accounting system.
Nancy has extensive and strong knowledge regarding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Statement of Federal Financial Accounting Concepts and Standards, and OMB Bulletins. This knowledge has enabled her to make very sound technical decisions regarding financial analysis, trend forecasting, systems restructuring and report preparation.
She also represented the Department to work with multi agencies such as Department of Treasury, GAO and OMB to resolve long outstanding complex accounting issues, as well as recommending accounting policies and developing the standardized chart of accounts to be used by all Federal agencies. |
